A few questions: Before you apply any of the oils, do you spritz her hair with water from a spray bottle first? If not, you could just be sealing in dryness which could be a big part of your problem. Also, is her hair long enough for protective styles (braids, twists, cornrows) ? If so, her hair should be in one at least 50% of the time. This will help her hair to retain moisture and length. If her hair isn’t long enough, then spritzing with water before applying products can make all of the difference.

At 14 months she’s more than old enough to begin a deep conditioning regimen. You can feel free to graduate her from the kids line of Shea Moisture and use the regular line. Deep conditioning should be done after each shampoo each week. Here’s an article on homemade deep conditioning treatments. Everything you need is probably already in your fridge and pantry so no need to worry about purchasing expensive products. 🙂
